Social Media Platforms - What are your options?

Social Media Networks - What are your opinions?

Social media networks are just one of the marketing and communication channels available to organizations and businesses. This channel brings opportunities to connect with your potential audience, to build awareness of your case, to build social testimony, to build a following, to network with others, to build connections and more.

Social media is the pub of the past. It’s the meeting place of neat ideas, local and international news, and the place where you might hear feedback about your business or organization. It’s a digital way to connect.

Each social media network speaks to a slightly different audience. Those using Instagram may not be using Facebook to connect. Those using Snap Chat may not be using BlueSky. Those using X may not be found elsewhere. Those using Pinterest may also be using multiple other social media channels, or none at all.

Audiences and users of social media channels do so for a variety of different purposes and reasons. For me, I used to use X because the local media had a strong presence. I’d often check the road reports before heading out on my commute to the office or when heading for home.

Facebook

For those seeking audiences of Facebook, you might be looking to connect and engage with friends, older relatives and local businesses. Nonprofit organizations can mostly be found on Facebook.

Instagram

For those seeking a younger demographic, Instagram might be right up your alley. For video and image content, Instagram can reach a younger audience. Over the last few years, Instagram has attracted audiences with its video content.

LinkedIn

For those in professional realms or seeking a new role, using LinkedIn to search for new opportunities is a great opportunity. LinkedIn can also be used to connect with mentors, to keep up to date on trending topics. This social media platform is also a hot-bed of thought leadership. If you’re recruiting roles, do not sleep on LinkedIn. Yes, there’s a cost associated with postings but it’s a good opportunity to connect directly with job seekers

X (Formerly Twitter)

Since its inception, X has been an odd duck. Full of random social media posts, X was a hot bed of connections, local coverage, international current events and networking. After a change in ownership, X’s audience has changed to be more AI, bots and those with right-wing views. Some organizations and businesses have re-considered their presence on X. Whatever the choice, the decisions to utilize social media channels are based on social media strategy.

BlueSky

A relatively new kid to the social media scene, BlueSky is still finding its way. While I have joined, other businesses and organizations are still evaluating its presence. This channel isn’t as robust as other channels that have been available longer. It might be the right fit for you though.

TikTok

Looking to connect with young demographics? TikTok might be the channel of choice for you. Known for a wide variety of content, TikTok is full of video content. Influencers use TikTok to connect with younger demographics. Often sponsored videos connect influencers with products to those on TikTok.

Regardless of your audience, you can likely connect with them on a social media platform. Though, it’s important to know that not every single human uses social media. Many do. This fact is why consideration should be given to who your audience is and where they might be found.

We at Boose Communication typically focus on X, BlueSky, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, it’s important to realize there are lots of social media platform options. Appearing on all social media isn’t a requirement, but connecting on a platform where your audience is, is ultimately the most important. No one wants to shout into the wind with no results, no connection and no engagement.

Whether you are looking to connect with others, build a network, explore a passion, market your products or more, social media platforms offer you an opportunity to do so.
